Roaster Camp 2016

Roaster Camp launches in October 2016 with three days of diverse workshops, inspiring seminars, hands-on roasting experience and challenges aimed at connecting and developing roasters from across Europe. Produced and supported by the Roaster Guild of Europe working group, Roaster Camp will become a compulsory event in the diary of European roasters.

6-8 October 2016
Camp will start on Thursday October 6th at 9am and will finish on Saturday October 8th at 4pm. In planning your flights, please note that our location is around 1.5-2h away from Tallinn or Riga airports. We are exploring the options of offering shuttle services from both Riga and Tallinn airports, so please stay tuned!

Location
Estonia Resort Hotel & Spa

Roaster Camp is headed to a seafront location where we’ll be setting up in the beautiful city of Pärnu, located on the Pärnu Bay within the Gulf of Riga. The green, peaceful and charming city is centred between Estonia’s capital Tallinn to the north, and the capital of Latvia, Riga in the south, with excellent connections from both.

Estonia Resort is a beautiful new hotel and spa complex, which will host all of Camp’s educational activities, as well as accommodate and feed the delegates. Although in October it may not be beach weather anymore, we’re sure that with an indoor swimming pool, a spa centre, and a cute and cosy back yard, we have plenty of ways to relax and have fun in the evenings too.

Educational content
There will be a range of workshops on offer to camp attendees including roasting, green coffee, and sensory, all taking inspiration from the SCAE Coffee Diploma System. Afternoon seminars and round-table discussions on a broad range of topics related to roasting will give delegates the opportunity to debate and share their practices, encouraging development and strengthening the network at camp. Have a look at the program (click on the picture) to get an idea of what’s on offer. We’ll be adding descriptions of each workshop soon.

We will also have lots of opportunities to cup and evaluate coffees, with sessions by our green bean partners, as well as trainers.
Adding to the fun and chance to demonstrate your skills will be the team roasting and sensory challenges. The final assessment and winners presentation to close day three will send delegates home on a high.

Networking & Career Opportunities

Attendees to camp will come from a broad geographical area which offers a platform to connect with new peers and form stronger connections across Europe. Delegates will have a fantastic opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of the trainers and the Roaster Guild of Europe working group, as well as from expert coffee professionals speaking at camp.
